Frequently Asked Questions

1. How old do you need to be to get tattooed/pierced at your shop?

Magic Mirror Tattoo prohibits anyone under the age of 16 to receive services from our shop.  Clients between the age of 16-17 must be accompanied by their PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN and both parties must provide a valid government issued ID.  Here is a list of acceptable forms of ID:

a. learner's permit / driver's license
b. passport
c. yearbook photo + birth certificate

If last names do not match OR if the addresses do not match on both of your IDs, bring the client's birth certificate in addition to the proper IDs.  The Parent or Legal Guardian whose name is on the birth certificate needs to be present.  Please contact the shop if you have questions regarding proper IDs.

ALL clients of Magic Mirror Tattoo must provide a valid, government issued ID before receiving any services from a Magic Mirror artist, regardless of your age.  No exceptions.

2. Do you accept walk-ins?

We accept walk-ins whenever possible. We will often post about openings and promote walk-in days for our clients that want smaller quick tattoos. Most bigger tattoos are booked as an appointment, but our tattooers aren't slow, so it doesn't hurt to ask if we have time for what you're looking to get. Walk-in tattoos are on a first come, first served basis and we will do our best to accommodate as many clients as we can in order.

3. How do I book an appointment?

Email the artist whose work you'd like to collect. If you want something small, we might be able to get you in sooner as a walk-in.

If you are corresponding with an artist, and are ready to book, ask them how many hours and what days and times for us to schedule for you. You would call the shop to leave your deposit(s).

4. Do I need a consultation?

Ultimately its up to you. Most smaller tattoos can be done as a walk-in, but if you have questions feel free to stop in, give us a call, or email the shop or the artist you'd like to get work from. Consultations are good for large scale work and cover-ups.

5. Are children allowed in your studio?

Unfortunately, no. You must find proper childcare prior to arriving to your appointment. While our studio maintains a clean and sterile working environment, tattoo studios are not safe surroundings for unsupervised children as they could be exposed to bio-hazard waste, potential blood-borne pathogens, potential unsanitary surfaces and sharp needles. Please take this into consideration before booking any appointments.

6. How do you price your tattoos?

Pricing will depend on the size, detail, body location, and how well you are able to sit during your tattoo appointment.  Our shop minimum is $100 and will go up from there depending on those pricing factors.  For large scale projects, we have an hourly rate of $175.  Pricing will always be determined by your artist and can change depending on the prep time and complexity of the project. Estimates can be offered during a free consultation with your artist prior to booking an appointment.  We do not give out price estimates through email or over the phone as there are too many factors that need to be determined.

7. What is your cancellation policy?

All deposits are final. Your deposit will be taken off the total price of the final session of your tattoo. However, if you fail to show up for any of your scheduled appointments without proper notice, you will FORFEIT your deposit. Prior to booking an appointment, we will go over our deposit policy thoroughly with you to make sure that our deposit policy and the date & time scheduled is agreeable.

8. I emailed an artist at your shop and haven't heard back from them, what should I do?

If you contact one of our artists directly, please allow some time for a response.  Keep in mind that our artists may only have one day per week to review and reply to all of their incoming emails requests. If the wait time seems to be too long for you, please contact the shop and we can discuss your options.

9. When can I see a sketch for my tattoo?

The design will be provided on the day of the scheduled tattoo appointment.  All drawings will done in order due to the volume of drawings done each week. If you have concerns about any aspect of your design, please reach out to your artist, send extra reference discussing things you like and don't like about them so that your design can be tailored more precisely.

10. Does your shop specialize in cover-ups?

All of our artists are highly qualified for covering up existing or old tattoos.  We would schedule a consultation with you to determine the best approach to cover up your old work.

11. Can I bring a friend to my appointment?

We are limiting guests to one (1) per client during your appointment. This is to help minimize gatherings of large groups while in close proximity of one another while our artists are working. Please respect your artist and their space during your visit.

12. What should I do to prepare for my upcoming tattoo appointment?

Make sure to get lots of rest and to eat a good balance meal before getting tattooed.  Do not be hungover or recovering from an injury as this will be an unpleasant experience and may be difficult for your body to heal properly.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows full access to the area that is going to be tattooed. It is possible for ink to get on your clothes so make sure to factor that into your wardrobe options.

If you are feeling ill or have been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, please contact Magic Mirror Tattoo PRIOR to your appointment. We may need to reschedule your appointment for the health, safety & well-being of our clients and staff.
